Learn

As Christians, we believe that we always have more to learn. God is always creating, and the Holy Spirit is always leading us to grow in our faith and understanding. Questions are encouraged and doubts are welcome as we explore our faith together.

Education programs are open to everyone. You do not need to be a member, or even someone who worships with us to join in on a Bible Study, or show up for a presentation that interests you. New participants are always welcome in any of our ongoing studies.

Resources for Advent at Home 2020

This year we are encouraging everyone to observe the Advent Season at Home. There are many ways to do this. Several options and resources are listed here. Those that are available for anyone to use will have a live link. Those that are protected by copyright, which we have purchased for use within our congregation only, you will need to email the church office to receive. Or you can request these resources through our Contact Us form. Resources sent from the church office can come to you as a PDF via email to print at your home, or sent already printed through the post office. Please let us know what you would prefer.

Advent Candle Lighting Liturgy We encourage everyone to follow the practice of lighting a candle each Sunday as part of your Advent practice. The document linked here will follow what you hear in Worship each Sunday of this season.

"Advent and Hygge: The Art of Coziness" Weekly Devotionals from SALT. This is a weekly devotional from SALT, which offers scripture, prayer, reflection, and suggested practices. This devotional follows the Danish principle of "Hygge" which encourages us to embrace the darkness and quiet of this season. For these materials please contact the church office.

PCUSA Advent Devotional 2020 The 2020 Advent Devotional from Presbyterians Today is free and available online to download. This is a daily devotional for the season based on Howard Thurman's Prayer, "I will light candles this Christmas." This devotional extends through Epiphany on January 6th.

Illustrated Ministry Family Devotional For families with elementary-aged and younger children, or those looking for a devotional with hands-on crafts alongside the reflections and prayers, we also have a weekly devotional from Illustrated Ministry called "Preparing for Jesus." This includes weekly prayer, scripture, and reflection, along with a craft and activity. For these materials please contact the church office.

Illustrated Ministry Coloring Sheets In addition to the full devotional from Illustrated Ministry, we also have a collection of coloring sheets for the season. If you enjoy coloring as a devotional practice, we can easily send these your way. Please contact the church office.
